i’ve watched this advert a multitude of times, but decided to share anyway for those of you who might have missed it.
Air popped up on my playlist this morning, which of course made me think of The Virgin Suicides. one of those movies that i love, but hardly ever watch. i think most girls my age can relate when i say this film had an impact on my teenage days (i was 16 when it came out). we were the same age as the lisbon chicks (but, hopefully, not as sheltered/melancholic/suicidal) and we all kind of had a thing for josh hartnett.
the irresistible combination of the visuals and music of this film must have inspired thousands of girls to create flickr photo sets that are dreamy + ethereal and heavily photoshopped to look pastel + lovely. sophia coppola is their queen, as you can also pick up in the recent ad she did for miss dior cherie:
