i’m not sure when i first noticed Mansur Gavriel. it could have been when Garance Doré blogged about their beautiful bucket bag, or it might have been upon seeing the bright pops of blue and yellow peeking out of their gorgeous totes that were being pinned relentlessly by women like myself, suddenly smitten. nevertheless, the minute i saw their bags i was sold. with an emphasis on simple design, quality production and highlighting the natural beauty of leather – Mansur Gavriel is my bag-lady soul mate.
Rachel Mansur and Floriana Gavriel have backgrounds in textile and fashion design, they met in LA and 2 days later started designing their line. the leather is sourced from a tannery in Tuscany, and all the bags are made in Italy.
Inspired by natural textures, pop colors, clean lines and simple shapes, the collection evokes Italy in the ’60s, or a classic California easiness—warm, natural leather, sunny colors, and a casual elegance. The products are designed to function for your daily needs, and travel with you for years to come.
i am now lucky enough to own their bucket back in cammello, with the wonderful azzuro blue interior. the bag is beautifully sculptural in person, and will hold its shape due to the interior patent – even though the leather will age and soften with use. it might be the most amazing thing i have ever had in my possession. you can read more about their story here, and shop their bags at Need Supply Co, Net-A-Porter and Steven Alan or at any of these stores.
