hello friends, happy friday. and happy 2022, i hope it will be a good year for all of us.
this photo of a pregnant lady in a yellow dress eating an ice-cream made me so happy today. it was taken in NYC in 1985 by Belgian photographer Harry Gruyaert – a master of film, colour, light and perfectly captured moments.
Born into a traditional Catholic Flemish family, Gruyaert was forbidden from becoming a photographer by his father, who saw it as sinful. Gruyaert left Belgium and traveled through Europe, becoming inspired by the colors and lights of the continent. He studied at the School of Film and Photography in Brussels from 1959 to 1962 before moving to Paris to pursue photography.
You can see more of his work at Magnum Photos and Artsy.

my bad, i tend to swop letters sometimes!
So do I! And I let auto-correct spelling get the best of me ;)! His work is lovely, & I met the man through you, even though I’m Belgian. So thank you, I love his style.
These are so beautiful – I wish my computer screen was bigger to really take them all in! Thank you for posting about him – he is new to me!
